Be Your Best

I did not understand multitasking until I got married and the kids started coming. It dawned on me that there will never be time enough to finish one chore before going to another. Cooking and doing the laundry at the same time. The result was one or two burnt pots but it has gotten better through the years.
Every woman has an overdose of strength that is inherent . It keeps still until when it is needed. We don’t brag about it but we are sure of it as we are sure of our self. Mothers are jack of all trade. If you are in doubt, then you should meet my mom. She is a doctor, a nurse, a cook, teacher, disciplinarian, tailor….. she fills in every gap when it is an option. Now, I am growing and I am filling in many gaps . We are wired that way.

However, no one goes for a job interview claiming to be able to do everything. Even as mothers, there is always that one thing we can do differently and better than others. Sometimes, it can be as a result of what we studied in school or experiences we have gathered along the way. In this life, it is necessary that we learn skills that will carry us on this journey but to make an impact in the lives of people, you have to become an expert at one thing. When the human brain concentrates on a particular thing for a long time, it becomes a force to reckon on with in that field.

Find your niche and stick to it. We hear it countless times especially with regards to blogging, writing or anyother Art-related work. We are told to find what sells us and keep flowing with it. An expert has an authority that no one else has. Experts rule the world. You know what they say about being the jack of all trade and master of none. You want to rule the world? Find your winning streak and take advantage of it. Sitting on the fence is not allowed.

NaBloPoMo Prompt: Do you think it’s better to be a recognized expert for one thing, or known to be really good at lots of things?

  1. Great post. Being the best is the way to go. There’s also a saying, Jack of all trades, master of All. It was remixed. Luckily even the world has grown to be multitasked. Workers today are also expected to have at least 3 areas of specialisation. While one can’t be a master of all, mastery of two or three areas one is passionate about isn’t a bad idea. Yeeeey to multitasking!!
